Grounding

Image
Monday, January 30, 2023: I woke up this morning knowing I needed to get more grounded. There's so much happening and I have started to feel like I am on a Tilt-A-Whirl . I pulled the Page of Pentacles. I love the Pages. Everything is new to them and they see it all like it's all brand new. They look at the elements with a beginners mind and see things we've taken for granted. They remind us that we need to do the same. This Page reminded me to do the same. I am invoking "The Forest". This is a good day for me to remember we are all part of the Earth and we are made of Stardust. This is a good day to feel out roots in the good Earth and my branches in the sky. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The Page of Pentacles is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony “Forest” is from the Liminal Spirits Oracle deck, by Laura Tempest Zakroff

Focus

Image
Sunday, January 29, 1993: This morning I pulled the 8 of Wands. For me this card reflects Strength and being in alignment of mind,  body and spirit focused on a single goal in the element of Fire (energy and passion.) This is the kind of power that changes things. I am invoking the “Big Bold Vision” Oracle Card. This is an amazing time and opportunity for transformation.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The 8 of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Big Bold Vision” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Grace

Saturday, January 28, 2023: On this day I pulled the High Priestess (HP). The HP is the third card in the Major Arcana and the second card The Fool encounters. First, the Magician tells the Fool that there is a magical force and that when you set an intention above it has effect on the physical plane below. The HP comes next telling the Fool there is a way for you, a path yours alone to aspire too. The HP does not tell the Fool what lay ahead. It is the Fool's journey to take. I am invoking the Three of Wands from the Shadowscapes Tarot. This particular expression of the Three of Wands speaks deeply to me of the need to follow a path in life secure in the knowledge that what you need, and need to know, will be right there when you need it. Sometimes we need to step out and trust the universe.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The High Priestess (HP) is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Three of Wands from the Shadowscapes Tarot, by

Friday, January 27, 2023: My card for today is the Seven of Cups. This is a card of possibility and movement in the realm of water, the realm of emotions and circulation. It is The Chariot expressed in that element. I’m invoking the Chariot. This card calls to me Plato’s allegory of the Chariot . The allegory is about how our animal and divine natures have to be balanced by our intellectual self in order to move forward towards our goals. So, that’s my perfect invocation for today. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Seven of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Chariot is from The Urban Tarot, by Robin Scott

Thursday, January 26, 2023: On this day I pulled the Knight of Wands. This was a day of a big meeting launching a movement I invoked The Messenger. Sometimes we need to act to make things better, even if that leads to conflict. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Knight of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Messenger is from The Next World Tarot, by Cristy C. Learning

Image
Wednesday, January 25, 2023: This morning I pulled The Four of Wands. For me The Four of Wands is a card reflecting The Emperor and the physical aspects of strategic planning, having your resources available and getting things done. It can also reflect a bit of inflexibility and lack of generosity for people's quirks. Still, there are things that have to get done. I am invoking the Teacher, solid, rational energy for moving forward and at the same time learning from the situation and the people you're working with! -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The The Four of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Teacher is from The Next World Tarot, by Cristy C. Valor

Image
Tuesday, January 24, 2023: Today I pulled the Six of Wands. I read this as The Lovers expressed in the realm of fire. It’s a card of passion and determination usually interpreted as valor. It reminds me that wars are only lost when one side gives up on fighting. It’s a reminder to stay strong. I’m invoking justice. Sometimes we need to commit to make things better. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Six of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony Justice is from The Next World Tarot, by Cristy C. Metal

Image
Monday, January 23, 2023: Today I pulled the Knight of Wands. This is a very powerful card. Knights have energy and Wands are fire. I’m invoking metal. Metal is a powerful ore from the sun. The fire of a furnace melts, fuses and purifies metal in a powerful process of transformation that creates tools and changes things. There’s a lot of things needing changing! -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Knight of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony “Metal” is from the Liminal Spirits Oracle deck, by Laura Tempest Zakroff

Surprise!

Image
Sunday, January 22, 2023: Today I pulled the Ace of Cups, which I read as something new in the suit of Water, the element of love and circulation. I am invoking the “Bring It Into Form” oracle card. So mote it be! -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Ace of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Bring It Into Form” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Activism

Image
Saturday, January 21, 2023: Today I pulled the 7 of Wands. The way I read this is the Chariot card expressed in the element of fire, literally Chariots of Fire. This is a card for setting boundaries and making a stand for justice and truth. I’m invoking the “Defend To The End, The Worthwhile” oracle card. The fight is worth waging. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The 7 of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Defend To The End, The Worthwhile” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Appreciation

Image
Friday, January 20, 1993: Today I pulled the Four of Cups. This Four to me is about not appreciating what you have, it’s being surrounded by love and happiness and success yet still feeling melancholy. Life is about possibilities and when you choose a path the paths you didn’t travel become myths. When you hit a pothole on the path you’re on it’s easy to think of the paths you did not take. Even if you didn’t see them doesn’t mean there’s not potholes there too. The card I am invoking is Temperance. It’s about balancing opposing forces and, in my opinion, living in the now and not becoming obsessed with unreal myths.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The Four of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony Temperance is from The Light Seer’s Tarot, by Chris Anne

Progress

Image
Thursday, January 19, 2023: This morning I pulled The Chariot. For me The Chariot is a card about being in alignment and moving forward, the spiritual, the intellectual and the physical aspects of the self working together and not in conflict. There are things that have to get done. I am invoking the King of Pentacles, solid, rational energy for moving forward! -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Chariot is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The King of Pentacles is from The Next World Tarot, by Cristy C. Magic

Image
Wednesday, January 18, 2023: Today I pulled the Magician. This is the first thing the Fool encounters on their journey. For me this card is about how we have the ability to set an intention in the spiritual realm and manifest that intention in the physical realm. It works both ways too. As above so below. As below so above. The spiritual and physical realms are intimately connected. With that in mind I am invoking the "Spirals Of Manifestation" Oracle card. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Magician is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The "Spirals Of Manifestation" oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Shame

Image
Tuesday, January 17, 2023: This morning I pulled The Devil. What is it that we are bound to that doesn't serve us but we can't help but embrace? When I think of the Devil I think of shame. Don't get me wrong there are things we should be ashamed of: violence, cruelty, hate, racism, intolerance. Unfortunately too many of the things people feel shame for are not the things we should be ashamed of. Culture tells us to be ashamed of things like who and how we love, have consensual sex, and express our genders. Culture tells us we are broken or abnormal and we should feel shame rather than celebrate our diversity. Well, normal sucks. In response I am invoking the “Going Beyond Normal” oracle card. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: Seven of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Going Beyond Normal” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork b

Monday, January 16, 2023 — More Tarot from the hot tub. Today I pulled the Seven of Cups. A card of amazing possibilities. Everything is possible before you make a choice, before you choose a path. That is the moment when you really can have it all. It’s right there in front of you, every possible path. I’m invoking The Carnal servitor card because at this moment it’s possible to have your cake and eat it too! Delight in this wild and wonderful life! -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: Seven of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony “The Carnal” servitor card is from The Forty Servants, by Tommie Kelly

Turning

Image
This morning I pulled the 10 of Swords. I remember an old Tarot teacher saying, "there are no good or bad cards." So I am not giving up on this card. Digging deeper, what is this card anyway? How do I interpret it? Well, the 10 of Swords is The Wheel card in the realm of the mind, the realm of air. Have you been sad or suffering from post Covid fog? Then this is a weather forecast. The wheel turns. It's going to get better. I’m invoking The Wheel. The fog will lift soon.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  10 of Swords is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Wheel is from The Light Seer’s Tarot, by Chris Anne

Power

Image
Today I pulled the King of Wands. I have to get my shit together. I’m invoking the  “The Protester”  servitor card. The time has come to rally the energies I do have and get back into the fight!  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  King of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony “The Protester” servitor card is from The Forty Servants, by Tommie Kelly

Sunshine

Image
When I pull the same card two days in a row I pay close attention. What’s the universe got on its mind? Today I pulled the 2 of Swords again. I compared it to purgatory. Turning from difficult choices that need to be faced. Shit or get off the pot! I’m invoking the sun. There’s nothing mediocre about that!  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  Two of Swords is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Sun is from The Light Seer’s Tarot, by Chris Anne

Purgatory

Image
Today I am doing my Tarot from the hot tub. This morning I pulled the Two of Swords. I call this the shit or get off the pot card. It’s the purgatory of unchosen mediocrity. This resonates with me as I look at the things I would normally do and want to do and the struggle I am having with post Covid fatigue. I’m having to reevaluate things based on my reduced capacity. I’m invoking Temperance to help me not feel overwhelmed and to communicate to myself and others just what I’m able to do right now.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  Two of Swords is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony Temperance is from The Light Seer’s Tarot, by Chris Anne

Trust

Image
This morning I pulled the Ace of Cups. I read this as meaning unexpected news in the realm of water: emotions and circulation. This is usually good news. It may mean new love or revitalization of an established relationship. I’m invoking the "Inner Trust" oracle card, to trust myself, my heart and especially to trust love.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  Ace of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The "Inner Trust" oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Change

Image
This morning I pulled Death. While the Death card can mean literal death the way I read Death is as an ending, typically of a phase of life. This is not always a desired change. It's usually not the result of a plan. Death just happens and when it does, like physical death, when it happens it is done. There's no redoo to death. It's over. The task is to be a survivor. Just as we survive the death of loved ones so too do we survive the death of phases of times of our own life. We are not who we were 30, 20 or 10 years ago. We are not who we were yesterday. That which has passed cannot be changed. All that's real, all we can change, is here and now. I am invoking "Visions Of Life Beyond Death," to plan and invision who I am and to find joy and peace in my personal mantra, "I am who I am — I love who I am."  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  Death is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Visions Of Life Bey

Beginning

Image
This morning I pulled The Fool. This is the start of a whole new journey. It differs from rebirth. It’s all new territory. I’m feeling like this about last month’s Covid and this month’s launch into post-Covid (a.k.a. Long Covid, which may not be Covid at all.) I’m chronically tired now. I’m learning to pace myself. I’m invoking “Bring It Into Form” as I learn to navigate this new me and to manage my own expectations that are based on a person I no longer am.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The Fool is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Bring it into Form” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Strength

Image
Sunday, January 8, 2023: This morning I pulled the Ace of Pentacles. Typically I read the Aces as unexpected news in the element of the card. Usually the Ace of Pentacles means something good, like winning the lottery, but it could also be a broken bone. Whichever, I am still pretty weary from the Covid. So, I’m invoking Strength so good or bad I’m strong enough in body, mind and spirit and can deal with, and/or enjoy what is to be.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The Ace of Pentacles is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony Strength is from the The Light Seer’s Tarot, by Chris Anne

Restraint

Image
I pulled The Seven of Cups this morning. There's so much to do and so many possibilities. I am invoking The Hanged Man, I want to ease back into the World. Relax, there's no rush.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The Seven of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Hanged Man is from the The Light Seer’s Tarot, by Chris Anne

Patience

Image
There’s so much to do, see and say. When I pulled the Hanged Man today I knew it was an expression of the frustration I am having with this slow healing process. I know I have to have “Faith In The Process.” Why is that so hard? -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Hanged Man is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Faith In The Process” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Birth

Image
I read the Major Arcana as a journey through life. In this journey experiences occur and shit happens. I see the order of the cards as like phases in life. This morning I pulled The Star. The Star follows the Tower and proceeds The Moon. It’s a process of destruction, reflecting and rebuilding, like the Phoenix Bird rising from the ashes. I have felt this in my life since Susie and I contracted Covid and pulled together and got through together. It’s still ongoing. It’s fragile and we’re taking it slow. This is something new and different and delicate. I’m invoking “New Birth, Guarded Vigilantly” for this precious sweet time. There’s no need to rush. -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Star is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Bring it into Form” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Love

Image
This morning I pulled the Ace of Cups. I see the Ace cards as bearers of news in their respective suits. This Ace brings news in the realm of love and circulation. This is usually very good news! I’m invoking the High Priestess. The High Priestess guides us onto the path to follow. I’m saying, “let love show the path.” -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  This is from my divination/invocation daily practice: The Ace of Cups is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The High Priestess is from the Druid Craft Tarot Deck by Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm, Illustrated by Will Worthington

Completion

Image
I pulled Strength this morning. I read Strength as much more than just being strong in general. I see the Strength card in the major arcana as a call to be in alignment in our mental, animal and spiritual natures. I believe this is what Jenya Turner Beachy is talking about in her important book, The Secret Country of Yourself . It's these three souls, The Talker, The Fetch and The Godself, that cause internal strife when they're not in alignment. (The Feri/Faery Tradition of Witchcraft recognizes these three selves or souls.) I see the Strength card as representing this trinity and being aware of the need for alignment and looking at the day with that in mind. I am invoking The Four of Wands, acknowledging the journey we have been on fighting Covid and hoping to carry the strength and unity found in that forward.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  Strength is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The Four of Wands is from The Urban Tar

Receiving

Image
I pulled The Lovers this morning. It kinda says all there is to to say about how I am feeling today. After being so sick with Covid, feeling well is so amazing. I’m in love with everything right now. I am invoking Receiving, as I am drinking this all in.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The The Lovers is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “Receiving” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn Skye

Home

Image
This morning I pulled the Four of Wands. Yesterday tested I negative for Covid after a protracted struggle Susie and I both had with the disease that lasted most of December. It's one of a series of health struggles we've had over the last couple of months. We went through this together, supporting each other. Neither of us is testing positive for Covid now, but we are weary. The Four of Wands is typically a card of sanctuary, haven and refuge. That we found in each other, even while having to isolate from each other in our own home. It's also a card of celebration. Just going for a walk together today together was definitely that! I am invoking the "After The Storm" oracle card for continued healing and a return to health.  -- As always when I speak of life, love and Tarot I speak only for myself.  The Four of Wands is from The Modern Love Tarot, by Ethony The “After The Storm” oracle card is from The Sacred Rebels Oracle, by Anna Fairchild, Artwork by Autumn S
