Sunday, January 7, 2024: Today I pulled the Five of Swords. To me this card reflects what happens when we get angry and get in reactive mode. When we fight we lose our ability to think clearly. We lash out with our tongues. We are more concerned with winning. This is a good time to step away, perhaps use a safe word to disengage. Wednesday, January 3, 2024: Today I pulled The Tower. I often think of this card like Lightning. Lightning is random. While typically destructive it can also open up unexpected possibilities. Lightning can remove obstacles and free you from constraints. Loosing a job, a partner, or a rental, can lead to a much better situation! I am invoking lightning with an open and curious mind. Tuesday, January 2, 2024: The Empress is an interesting card. It is often portrayed as The Mother, which to me is a very different energy. I am invoking The Mother. Saturday, December 31, 2023: Today I pulled the Page of Cups. For me the pages represent having a beginner’s mind. In the element of water I find that especially beautiful. To quote zen master Shunryo Suzuki, “In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few.” Looking forward to the new year I am invoking the Emergence card. Friday, December 30, 2023: Today I pulled the High Priestess and the Wheel came out with it. The way I am reading these cards is together. The High Priestess is about going forward in life on my best path. I see the Wheel as the Wheel of Time. Looking forward to what I am hoping to take into 2024 is love, leading to self-care, which makes space for building community which is creating joy which leads to more love.
