Tragedy

Monday, October 2, 2023: Today I pulled the Three of Swords. This, to me, is an interesting manifestation of The Mother in the realm of air. It’s a reminder that tragedy and sadness are a real part of life and the mother is there then too.

I’m invoking this card in the Meryl Tarot. It tells us the story of Aunt Josephine, the sweet but timid guardian of the Baudelaire children in A Series of Unfortunate Events. Her fear of tragedy paralyzes her. Tragedy is part of life. We are mortal. We have to live anyway, even when we have cause to feel fear.
