Subjugation


Monday, March 20, 2023: Yesterday Sue flew into Seattle, so we are together now on this road trip. This morning I pulled the Devil. Sue said, “that’s because you are with me now.” I thought about the Devil card and how it represents willful subjugation and then I thought of the institution of marriage. I will never think of The Devil the same again. I’m invoking Sue’s card, the Queen of Swords. She continues to provide me with lessons and insight.

Sunday, April 20, 2025: Today I pulled the Hermit. For me this is a card of inward reflection. The important thing is look at yourself and reflect on who you are now. This is not who the world expects you to be or who you were yesterday. Friday, February 24, 2023: Today I pulled the Hanged Man. For me this is a card of taking time and consideration of different perspectives. It’s between the powerful cards of Justice and Death in the Major Arcana. I’m invoking the Princess of Swords. I call this the mindfulness card. I read the Page/Princess cards as cards of having a beginner’s mind.
